Between 1945 and 1962 the United States conducted 331 atmospheric nuclear tests. Today, the government still denies the genetic effects caused by the radioactive fallout… (21/31 - The Hill People)
Only 10 days left to the challenge, and a few of my favourites still to come…
Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright. (16/31 - Wolf Man)
Early in the second season of Twin Peaks, Simon & Schuster Audio released Diane … The Twin Peaks Tapes of Agent Cooper, a cassette-only release that Kyle MacLachlan also performed. The tape consists of newly-recorded messages from Cooper to his never-seen assistant, Diane, mixed in with monologues from the original broadcasts. The tape begins with a prologue monologue in which Cooper discusses his pending trip to Twin Peaks, continues with the initial monologue heard in the pilot, and continues to a point after his recovery from being shot. For his work on this release, MacLachlan was nominated for a Grammy Award for best spoken-word performance.

We, The Chicago Creepout and Horror Society, are having a short Indie Horror Movie Competition!!! We present FRIGHT BITES Film Festival at Monster Mash-Up in Elgin, Illinois!
Submit your short horror film (30 mins or less) for your chance to win CASH! All night long we will be screening submissions and judging. Winner will receive a CASH prize!
Submission fees are only $20 and we are using 50% of all the submission fees as the grand prize! This means the amount someone will win is determined by how many films are submitted. The more submissions, the higher the prize money!
We are not in this for the money at all, and by doing this we are going to be supporting indie horror better than just giving you a piece of paper as an award. Any old festival can do that, but this way we are giving you some cash to make your short into a feature, or at least help, pay back investors, special effects artists, editors, etc… So spread the word to your fellow filmmakers as well.
Looking forward to HorrorHound Weekend! Especially for the NEAR DARK reunion and the fact that Timothy Balme, “Lionel” from DEAD ALIVE will be there for his first U.S. convention appearance! Elvira’s Horror Hunt Film Festival will be screening all weekend, something I had a part in the behind-the-scenes magic. Can’t wait!
My buddy Dave gave me these latest issues of his fanzine, LIQUID CHEESE, when I was at Flashback Weekend. Not to be confused with a band of the same name, Liquid Cheese is a ‘zine he’s been writing and making by hand for years, compiling horror convention news with all kinds of horror reviews. The guy’s got a photographic memory, so his articles are usually pretty interesting and factual.
