THE SKIN I LIVE IN (2011)
Funny that the very last film I watch for the year ends up being my absolute favorite. Possible tossup with HUGO, but this is another monster of its own. I can’t even categorize it properly. Arthouse horror? The most twisted revenge movie ever? Pure brilliance? YES to all three. Do not miss this film.

Love this poster! Went to see this premiere at the Midway Drive-In, thanks to Chicago’s Flashback Weekend convention runners. It was a blast because several of the directors were there and I think I prefer seeing horror movies at the drive-in even over an old movie house. Sleazy ’80s exploitation flick about a homely-looking misogynist photographer in LA that goes around raping, mutilating and murdering women. It’s not good or noteworthy other than the sublime fact that it is HILARIOUS. The killer makes these ridiculous noises that had me in fits. Great one for the midnight madness circuit.
